Chimney news! Hedwig (barn owl) and her brood have now vacated the sitting room chimney for new digs hopefully nearby. She has given us all some really spectacular sightings through the summer months as she has hunted and brought in prey for her young. We've also had the priviledge of watching the young via camera in the guest lounge. Exciting stuff! We hope she will be back again next year. Watch this space....

Starling Roosts are just beginning. We've already spotted small formations. Westhay Reserve is less than a 5 minute drive or 20min brisk walk. Shapwick, Ham Wall about 15mins drive..

Our hedghog has been spotted trundling round the garden and we seem to have plenty of small toads about. So far we have chucked three back out into the garden from our sitting room!

Carnival season begins this weekend 6th at Bridgwater. We only have 2 rooms left so you may have to be quick. Wells is on the 13th (2 rooms left) and Glastonbury on the 14th. (Full).Still plenty of room on the 11th for Shepton-Mallet. It's just something you have do at least once. It really is incredible and rated as Europe's biggest illuminate carnival. AND IT'S FREE!!! There is always collectors for local charities so empty your milk bottle and bring it with you.

Double-Gate goes Xmas! Traditionally trimmed and offering candlelight breakfasts. Why not treat yourself to a Xmas shopping weekend at Clarks Village and local stores or a girls weekend?

Xmas/New Year we close (except self catering). Family time for us. Plus Nana gets to get her hands on the new grandson down under. Sykpe is so frustrating! Re-open 4th Jan2010.
